Man Cooking in Window

Best of Both Worlds: Shutters offer Variable Light Control and Privacy

Do you know what’s wrong with the image above?  There’s a man cooking his breakfast, clearly visible, through his window! The lack of privacy in homes with parallel windows can feel quite uncomfortable in many situations.

Shutters can provide a unique function that other traditional blinds cannot. With the use of a divider rail, shutters are able to provide privacy on the lower portion of a window by tilting the louvers closed while allowing natural light into the room by opening the upper louvers. Very few window covering options exist that can allow this flexibility. Some top down cellular blinds offer this but they do have a number of strings which are used to suspend the blind. These strings, combined with the strings used to control lift, give most windows a rather busy and cluttered feel. Shutters get rid of the string mess of blinds while offering functionality that is unmatched by other window covering options.

Peering through Window

Ideally, you don’t want anyone peering into your home through your windows!

As new home developments typically build houses in close proximity to each other, most builders will attempt to make sure adjacent homes do not have windows that line up. This in an attempt to maintain a degree of privacy between the homes however this can be difficult to control with different home models. Shutters solve this issue as they provide privacy on any window, whether it be in the bedroom or in the bathroom, while still allowing light into the room.
